On her back
Unfortunately , even during a BD camp, not every thing goes according to plan it happens to top top trainers too , some time who ever you are you still need to deal with the unexpected fall or injury , of human or horse and it is dealing with these circumstances that high light the deference between the top to the ordinary trainers.
Top Trainer was multi tasking (some men can) he was instructing Lady Lavonia while checking for a text message from the BEF , Lady Lavonia was mounted (this time) on her latest purchase from the high prestige sales ,a black 18hh stallion an out an out Olympic prospect, it was every body envy including Top Trainer.
Little distracted by the text message Top trainer did not notice the young stallion assuming the propelling stance ,both front feet rigidly planted on the ground while the back arched and tight as a bow ,with his eyes glued to I phone screen he kept issuing instructions through the walky talky ,the first he realized some thing was out of the usual, was when her lady ship passed him flying with no wings in sight.
Her landing was also somewhat undignified , with a hell of a thump she came to a complete lay still position , a long deep farrow behind her , shouting in pain “my bottom hurts”
Top Trainer pushed up his sun shades and strode confidently over to her. 'Don't worry, don't worry' he informed 'I am trained in first aid I know what to do'. He knelt down, ripped open her riding shirt and put his ear to her chest to listen for a heartbeat. 'I will kiss it better he said, tell me where it hurts. I will give you mouth to mouth '. Lady Lavonia groaned and her eyes fluttered. In a semi-conscious state she smiled and murmured 'oh thank you thank you You saved my life, is there any way I can repay you I will do any thing, come to my horse box tonight “ she said softly, later the same evening in Lady's Lavonia horse box Top Trainer asked her “did you mean what you said about doing any thing”
“of course of course “ she replied with a smile
“ OK THANKS CAN I HAVE THE BLACK STALLION PLEASE” he said
That was not the only fall during BD camp
A week later JT was teaching Plump on Bluey the cob. She had been riding at walk-halt level for just over 15 years now and JT decided it was time to push her out of her comfort zone. 'Sitting trot?' exclaimed Plump nervously, 'well I'm not sure we are ready but I'll give it a go'. JT cracked the lunge whip and Bluey reluctantly set off at a steady trot. Every bit of Plump bounced and bounced. JT clicked his tongue but unfortunately Bluey had been clicker trained and mistook it for the command to stop and lower his head. Plump went sailing over his shoulder and landed flat on her back spread eagle in the sand. JT was aghast and hadn't got a clue what to do. Eventually he strolled over to Plump and prodded her in the ribs with the toe of his highly polished konig boot. There was no response so he smacked her sharply with the long schooling whip he had been holding. Still nothing. Finally he knelt down besides her and very carefully undid the top button of her shirt (this was a whole new experience for JT) still no respond , Junior trainer picked his mobile and called 999, on the other side a very confident voice assured him not to panic let take some details first, “can I have name of the injured please”
“I don't know we just call her plump”
“her age please”
“HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO KNOW? I AM ONLY A JUNIOR TRAINER”
“Does she have any next of kin with her is she married ??.
“she is married I am sure she is”
“excuse me Sir you were very vague about all the other details why are you so sure about her marital state”
“WELL SHE LAYING FLAT ON HER BACK SCREAMING SHE HAS GOT A HEAD ACH” replied Junior Trainer
