Flossy is well known to many on the British Dressage Forum as a teller of interesting stories and perhaps the odd joke or two. We have selected a few tales for your pleasure.

Over training

Over training
Training is a balancing act, every trainer of any sport including horses knows that insufficient training will produce insufficient result, at the same time over zealously in training and failure to notice the athlete state of body and mind may lead to bally up situation.
All the training manuals of: BD, BHS , UKCC and other organizations repeatedly remind us not to “OVER TRAIN”, on all the forums there are those that take it upon themselves to insure that horses will not be trained too early in life or for to long periods.
Junior trainer had another one of these days ,he competed in one “Walk halt test “ one “ Intro” and Pony club level 1 test, the common thread to all these test was the consistency in the judges marking, they all awarded him some where between 57% to 57.2% while the average scores of most of the other competitors were from 66% upwards.
By the score board no one could have missed noticing these scores , being British the subject was completely ignored, until a lady obviously from over seas as she was dressed in an expensive leather coat and Gucci boots , not the traditional British show uniforms of dirty husky coat and rubber muckers, turned to Junior and asked in a load enough voice to be heard on the other side of the county, “Vell younger man how do you explain that ” to which Junior Trainer replied “It is a simple case of over training”,
“What do you mean over training a professional with your experience you OVER TRAIN ?????”
“NO NO “ replied Junior Trainer “It is all the other competitors that are over training”
