One of the hottest topics within the equestrian world in recent month is the relationship between the governing bodies, national and international ,and the stake holders , the ordinary members .
Strong complaints has been made that those that sit on the committees do not act with the best interest of the majority stake holders, riders ,organizers etc. Many members of these organizations lost trust in those that were elected or appointed by the stake holders to run the sport on their behalf .
A friend of mine that spent many years on the FEI board was telling me that most of these allegations are un founded and un true , it is not possible to see and understand the whole picture from the criticizers position , things look different from a position of responsibility to the picture that the ordinary member sees.
He continued to explain that the sport is like a tree with people sitting on different branches, those on the highest branches has a different vantage view of the sport to those that sit on lower branches bellow them.
His 6 year old son was listening to our conversation and suddenly he said “like monkeys on a tree dad” his father smiled in agreement , and the son continued “ those on the top they look down and see faces and those at the bottom they look up and see A,,,,,,,,,H,,,,,s,”!
