During the recently held FEI AGM one of the topics that came for discussion was who should be appointed as the official FEI photographer, this position is lucrative but also holds a great responsibility of promoting and maintaining the image and reputation of the sport in the eyes of the public, we all know that one wrong picture published at the wrong time can turn a normal atmosphere completely blue with endless tongues wagging .

The debate got heated up and there was a consensuses of no agreement, not unlike judging, nationalistic feelings interfered with objective opinions, every delegate promoted a photographer from their own country , they believed that only him or her will be able to catch these magic moments should they reappear in 2013 .

The FEI chief executive reminded the attendants that the FEI as the custodian of classical equitation has the duty to select the best man for the job and proposed some unknown photographer that no one ever heard of or seen in the dressage world.

Like all democratic organization any proposal from the floor was vetoed by the board as un suitable, and their choice of the un known photographer suggested again.

At one point when a deadlock was immanent a compromise was thought and some one suggested to appoint Simon Cowell or Victoria Beckham as public relation officers of the FEI with a free hand to choose who ever they wish as the official photographer of the sport, the idea was dropped when it was highlighted that with the popularity of the free style it is an advantage to have some one with musical skills and feel for rhythm .

Eventually one of the delegate , the riders representative on his last day in office, did the unspeakable and challenged the board representative with a direct question “What this photographer that you are proposing for this important job has that all the other guys we are familiar with has not ?” and for the first time in the history of the FEI a direct answer was given to the floor “HE HAS THE NEW DIGITAL CAMERA WITH THE EXTRA FAST SHUTTER THAT CAN CATCH A COMPETITION DRESSAGE HORSE IN THE IN FRONT OF THE VERTICAL HEAD POSITION ”
